Red Lacquer Gansu Painted Sideboard Accessory This lovely warm colourGansu, circa 1920 This gorgeous sideboard still has its original paintings and deep red lacquer finish, restored and refreshed with a new shiny lacquer. The surface, worn in parts to show the dark pine, has a beautiful patina. The cabinet is from Gansu province and, like many similar pieces from the region, would have been used for storage of grain, rice or other foodstuffs. What was originally a removable panel towards the centre back of the top
